  1. What is the Career Exploration tool and how do I use it?
Career Exploration is an interactive, online tool with three goals in mind: to help users identify their needs; to provide a career exploration process context to individual job search steps; and to instruct users how CareerOneStop can help meet their needs and link them directly to appropriate resources.

Users can navigate through five easy steps: Assess Yourself, Explore Career Options, Gain Skills, Find a Job, and Manage Your Career. Each step provides related career exploration materials as well as links to relevant resources. The steps do not need to be completed in order, but rather serve as a broad context for career explorers.

  2. Where can I learn more about an occupation or career?

  3. Where can I find help in writing an effective cover letter?
The Career Resource Library has a Job Search Strategies section. There is a specific category called Cover Letters that contains links to articles on what is a cover letter, how to write one, and samples and tips.

  4. How can I prepare for a job interview?
The Career Resource Library (CRL) has a Job Search Strategies section that provides guidance on interviewing. This section includes articles, sample questions, types of interviews and advice on the interview process.

  5. What are related resources for the Career Exploration tool?
The Career Resource Library includes articles and Web resources for many of the specific topics within the five steps of the career exploration process. You'll find articles and Web resources on career exploration, job search, education and training, and business and employment.
